Jenny Koster

As English professor and Writing Center coordinator at Piedmont Virginia Community College, Jenny Koster supports students in developing their unique voices so that they advocate for themselves and their communities. Through a positive and engaging classroom environment designed to meet students’ diverse needs, Koster builds community and encourages students to explore their interests as potential areas of study. As founder of the Virginia Community College System’s Learning Assistance Professionals Peer Group, coordinator of the Virginia chapter of the Southeastern Writing Center Association (SWCA) and Virginia representative to the SWCA Board, Koster has elevated tutoring across the state and region. This year, she initiated Virginia’s first statewide tutor collaboration, TuColla-VA. When she is not developing her own classes or new tutoring initiatives, Koster works on her own creative writing.
