The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regularly scheduled one-day meeting January 14 in Richmond. The meeting also includes a presentation titled “Civic Discourse, Leadership and Higher Education” from the Honorable John Charles Thomas, a former Justice of the Virginia Supreme Court, and remarks from Reynolds Community College President, Dr. Paula Pando.
The Council’s Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet Monday, January 14 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the SCHEV offices (101 N. 14th Street, 9th and 10th floors). Topics include actions on programs at public institutions, private postsecondary institutional certifications, new guidelines for procedures related to audits of certified institutions and the policy for dual enrollment transferability.
In addition, the meeting will include reports on 2018 enrollment data, 2019 enrollment projection and degree estimates, the “Transfer Virginia” project and the ad hoc committee on educational attainment, as well as updates on the strategic finance plan/resource map project, institutional implementation of a license plate scholarship program and the new annual report on The Virginia Plan for Higher Education.
Dr. Stephen Moret, president and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), will make a brief presentation about Amazon’s Northern Virginia headquarters during lunch.
The Council will convene its regular meeting at 12:45 p.m. on January 14 at the SCHEV offices.
