V-TOP, SCHEV, the Virginia Chamber Foundation, the Virginia Business Higher Education Council, higher education institutions, and employers across the Commonwealth will celebrate Virginia Intern Day on July 30, 2026. Virginia Intern Day (VID) –last Thursday of July–builds off of National Intern Day as an excellent way to energize stakeholders about the powerful impact that internships and work-based learning have on students. VID marks a great occasion to recognize student-interns, employers, and institutions instrumental in delivering internship and work-based learning opportunities.  

2026 Top Virginia Employers for Intern Awards

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks to recognize the “Top Virginia Employers for Interns” and their role in providing work-based learning opportunities to students.  In addition to celebrating Virginia's top employers, Virginia Intern Day now recognizes the Top 50 Interns. Recipients will be recognized in multiple ways: via press releases, social media posts and regional events. 

The Virginia Intern Day Celebration will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Recipients will be recognized in Richmond, Virginia.

Virginia Intern Day Student Ambassador Program

Become a Virginia Intern Day Student Ambassador! We are searching for Virginia Intern Day Student Ambassadors from each college and university in the Commonwealth to serve as a social media representative and advocate for V-TOP and Virginia Intern Day. The purpose of this role is to use social media to promote Virginia Intern Day by showcasing personal internship experiences.

Nominations for the 2027 VID Awards will open September 2026.
