RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting July 21 at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave.
Council committees -- Academic Affairs; Resources and Planning -- will meet at 9:00 a.m. Topics include actions on proposals for new degree programs at public institutions; an application for postsecondary school certification; and institutional performance standards workgroup recommendations. In addition, Council will discuss guidelines for student assessment and the 2026-28 biennial budget and SCHEV responsibilities.
The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 11:00 a.m. Dr. John Downey, president of Blue Ridge Community College, will present remarks. Topics for the full Council meeting include discussions of the systemwide budget and policy recommendations for the 2027 legislative session and Workforce Pell. Council will receive an update on the responsibilities of the Private Postsecondary Education unit and an education session on dual enrollment.
