RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting May 11-12, 2026, at Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Va., including a joint meeting with leaders of Virginia’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities.
The Academic Affairs committee will meet on May 11 at 11:00 a.m. Topics include action on proposed new degree programs at public institutions, discussion of Council’s duty regarding assessment of student learning at public institutions, and reconsideration on whether to remove conditions on a previously approved degree program at a public institution.
The Resources and Planning committee will meet on May 11 at 1:00 p.m. Topics include updates on institutional performance standards, the six-year planning process, Pell initiative, Council workgroup progress and major projects impacting the committee in 2026.
At 3:00 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Private College Advisory Board (PCAB), which includes presidents from many of the Commonwealth’s private, not-for-profit colleges and universities.
The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m., May 12. Topics include action on proposed priority initiatives in support of the statewide strategic plan, action on program productivity policy and an update on the 2026 legislative session.
