Aaron Hale Named 11th President of Southern Virginia University
Post Date:03/13/2026 11:41 AM"Southern Virginia University’s board of trustees has unanimously appointed Aaron Hale as the institution’s 11th president, the school announced on Monday, March 9, 2026. Hale will assume the presidency on May 6, 2026, succeeding President Bonnie H. Cordon.
The selection of Hale marks a pivotal moment for the university, according to SVU Board Chair Wendy Kimber. 'This is an exciting and pivotal moment for the University,' Kimber stated. 'Aaron’s experience building mission-driven educational institutions, combined with his personal commitment to our values, makes him an ideal fit for SVU. We are confident in his ability to lead Southern Virginia into its next chapter of growth, and opportunity.'
Kimber likewise expressed gratitude for the contributions of outgoing President Cordon, acknowledging the strong foundation she established during her three-year tenure. 'We’re deeply grateful for President Cordon’s leadership and for the strong foundation she has built,' Kimber said. 'Because of her work, Aaron steps into a university community with real momentum, and we’re confident he’s the right person to build on that progress at this essential moment in our history,'" reports News USA Today.
