RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its annual orientation for all recently appointed members of the governing boards of Virginia's state-supported colleges and universities on November 12-13, 2025, in Richmond.

The Code of Virginia mandates that all new board appointees attend a SCHEV orientation session within their first two years of service. The orientation helps board members better understand, exercise and fulfill their important governing responsibilities.

Topics include: strategic planning, institutional finances, using data in decision making, Freedom of Information Act and governance.

Although this is a public meeting, RSVPs are required for anyone wishing to attend, including media and non-BOV members. Please contact lauraosberger@schev.edu no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, Nov. 10
