RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting September 15-16, 2025, at William & Mary in Williamsburg.
An orientation for new Council members will be held at 11 a.m. on September 15. Council committees -- Academic Affairs; Resources and Planning -- will meet at 1 p.m. in Miller Hall. Topics include action on institutional performance standards and full-cost calculations reviews. In addition, Council will discuss budget and policy recommendations for the 2026 legislative session and be briefed on the six-year plan process. Council will receive updates on program productivity policy modifications, transfer policies, 2025-26 work plan and Cardinal Education (online graduate program consortium in engineering). At 3:00 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Council of Presidents, comprised of presidents from Virginia’s public four-year institutions.
The full Council will convene for its regular meeting September 16 at 8:30 a.m. Katherine Rowe, president of William & Mary, will present remarks. Council meeting topics include action on 2025 meeting schedule and locations, budget and policy recommendations for the 2026 legislative session and framework for the next statewide strategic plan. At 11:30 a.m., a Council subcommittee will hold a closed session on personnel matters.
