RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regularly scheduled meeting May 12-13, 2025, at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., including a joint meeting with leaders of Virginia’s private, nonprofit colleges and universities.
Council committees -- Academic Affairs; Resources and Planning -- will meet on May 12 at 1:00 p.m. Topics include action on a proposed organizational change at a public institution, proposed private postsecondary institution certification and progress regarding institutional performance standards. In addition, Council will review a proposed doctoral program and receive updates on the Open Virginia Advisory Committee, the six-year planning process, 2025 General Assembly higher education budget and the New Economy Workforce Grant Program.
At 3:00 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Private College Advisory Board (PCAB), which includes presidents of many of the Commonwealth’s private, not-for-profit colleges and universities.
The full Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9:00 a.m., May 13. Robert Lindgren, Randolph-Macon College president, will present remarks. Council meeting topics include discussion about draft goals for Virginia’s statewide strategic plan for higher education. In addition, Council will receive updates on SCHEV college access initiatives, civic engagement efforts and the changing federal landscape.
