phaseroadmapACTIVERICHMOND - The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) today launched a short public survey to collect input from Virginians about the future of higher education. The survey marks the initial step to creating a statewide strategic plan over the coming year.

“We want all Virginians to get involved and share their thoughts. Just five minutes of your time can influence the strategic direction of higher education in the Commonwealth,” said Scott Fleming, SCHEV director.

The deadline to submit the survey is March 5. Data collected will be used to drive statewide discussions during subsequent stages of the planning process. The final strategic plan will be published by early 2026. Learn more about the Virginia Plan for Higher Education process.

SCHEV is charged through the Code of Virginia to develop a statewide strategic plan every six years that identifies a coordinated approach to state goals for higher education in the Commonwealth, which emphasizes unique institutional missions and anticipates future needs at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels. The current plan was passed in 2021 with the objective of making Virginia the best state for education by 2030.
