SCHEV to Take Action on Tuition Assistance Grant and VIVA Budget

RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regular business meeting from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the Presidents’ Dining Room of the Ernst Community Cultural Center at Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, Virginia. Following remarks from President Robert Templin and Virginia Community College System Chancellor Glenn DuBois, members will discuss the 2012-14 systemwide operating and capital outlay budgets, and budget items related to the Higher Education Opportunity Act.

The Council will act on SCHEV’s budget recommendations for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant and the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) for the 2012 biennium. Members also will take action on enrollment targets and degree estimates, as well as proposed education-related measures for Christopher Newport University to attain Level II authority.

On Monday, September 19, the Council will gather in the Distance Learning Center at Historic Mount Vernon to hear an update on TJ21 Higher Education Advisory Committee meetings. Agenda materials for both meetings are available at
