College-Bound Students Can Receive Free Assistance
Applying for Financial Aid at Local “Super Saturday” Events

RICHMONDThe State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is once again partnering with the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA) to help college-bound Virginians receive free one-on-one assistance completing the federal financial aid form during the 10th annual Super Saturday event. Financial aid specialists will help new and returning students fill out the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at 65 Super Saturday sites across the Commonwealth. In the Richmond area, Super Saturday events will take place at 10 locations over three consecutive Saturdays: January 28, February 4, and February 11, 2012.

WHO: Super Saturday events are open to parents and college-bound students of all grade levels, as well as adults interested in furthering their education.

South University, 2152 Old Brick Road, Glen Allen, VA

February 4
John Tyler Comm. College, 13101 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Chester, VA
Glen Allen High School, 10700 Staples Mill Road, Glen Allen, VA

WHAT:Each Super Saturday site will offer financial aid presentations and access to computers so that financial aid experts can help students electronically submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in time to meet the priority filing deadline for most Virginia colleges. Submitting the FAFSA initiates the financial aid application process used by most two- and four-year colleges and universities and career-technical schools to determine eligibility for student aid. In addition, a $100 Book Scholarship will be awarded to one student at each Super Saturday location.

All members of the media, including photographers, are invited to attend.
