SCHEV Extends Condolences to Virginia Tech Community

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) extends its sincere condolences to the Virginia Tech community as it mourns the loss of Officer Deriek W. Crouse. SCHEV also praises Virginia Tech for its quick action yesterday to ensure the safety of students and staff immediately following the attack on Officer Crouse.

Council would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and express gratitude to the campus safety officers across the Commonwealth who devote their professional careers to the students, faculty, and staff members at Virginia’s colleges and universities. Their contributions are vital to maintaining Virginia’s excellent system of higher education and we thank them.

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on higher education issues.

For more information, contact Kirsten Nelson, Director of Communications and Government Relations, at kirstennelson@schev.edu (804) 225-2627.
