Finance Policy Director

 

Dan Hix

Dan Hix is the Finance Policy Director at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. After joining the agency in March 1979, Mr. Hix served as Senior Associate for Finance Policy and as the Acting Finance Policy Director.

Mr. Hix has more than 25 years experience in higher education finance with a focus on higher education budget issues. Mr. Hix serves as the agency's liaison to the Chief Financial Officers at the public colleges and universities, as well as liaison to the Council's Resource Committee. He also works with staff on mandated responsibilities, including developing funding policies, formulae, and guidelines for the fair and equitable distribution of funds among public institutions of higher education.

Mr. Hix also serves as the agency's Southern Regional Education Board (www.sreb.org) State Data-Exchange Coordinator which includes coordination of the annual exchange of data covering state appropriations, tuition and fees, faculty salaries, enrollment, degrees conferred, among others. He also serves as the primary staff contact for the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program (CGEP).

Mr. Hix is married and has an 18 year-old son and a 6-year old yellow lab. He is an enthusiastic softball player, helping to get his team to the playoffs in 2004.
