Overview
In 2008, the U. S. Department of Education awarded funding to Virginia for the College Access Challenge Grant Program (CACGP). The CACGP is a formula grant program designed to foster partnerships among federal, state and local government entities and philanthropic organizations to significantly increase the number of students who enter and remain in postsecondary education with an emphasis on students and families living below the poverty line.
Virginia’s program is designed to increase awareness and knowledge of post-high school educational opportunities by providing important information to students and their families. Current initiatives include advising services for middle and high school students, information sessions on navigating the financial aid and college enrollment processes, counselor professional development, an interactive portal for career planning and continuation of the I am the One collateral campaign. These initiatives highlight the importance of education beyond high school and reinforce the message that college is within reach for all Virginians.Sign up for I am the One Info
