— The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold its regularly scheduled meeting July 17 at Richard Bland College in South Prince George, VA. (A detailed meeting schedule is below.)
On Tuesday, July 17, the Council will convene at 9:30 a.m. for an educational session featuring remarks from Dr. Glenn DuBois, chancellor of the Virginia Community College System; Dr. Janet Gullickson, president of Germanna Community College; and Dr. Angeline Godwin, president, Patrick Henry Community College. In addition, Dr. Megan Healy, Governor Northam's chief workforce development advisor will update the Council on the Governor's workforce priorities and goals for the administration.
Following the educational session, the Council's committees will meet at 11:00 a.m. The full Council will convene again at 1:30 p.m. for its regular meeting. Richard Bland College President Debbie Sydow will offer an overview of issues and opportunities for Richard Bland College. The Council also will receive remarks from W. Taylor Reveley III, retiring president of The College of William and Mary.
Meeting topics include the approval of new programs at two public institutions and certification of an out-of-state institution to operate in Virginia, updates to Virginia's domicile guidelines, a full-cost report, as well as discussions regarding the program approval process, measures of institutional performance, new SCHEV duties assigned by the General Assembly, the state budget, and The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, the state's strategic plan.
