Advisory: Council to Meet May 21-22

RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold its regularly scheduled meeting May 21-22 in Sweet Briar, VA.
 
On Monday, May 21, the Council's committees will meet at Sweet Briar College, followed by a tour of the college. The Private College Advisory Board will meet separately that afternoon. A detailed meeting schedule is below. 

The full Council will convene at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, on Sweet Briar's campus for its regular meeting. Sweet Briar College President Meredith Jung-En Woo will offer an overview of issues and opportunities for Sweet Briar College. James Madison University President Jon Alger will discuss student civic engagement and outcomes of college graduates. The Council also will receive remarks from Fran Bradford, Deputy Secretary of Education.  

Meeting topics include the approval of new programs at three institutions, an update on schools operating in Virginia that are accredited by the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) and discussion of changes to the Virginia domicile guidelines, enrollments at private four-year institutions and The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, the state's strategic plan.

3:15-5:15 p.m.: Private College Advisory Board meets
5:30-8:30 p.m.: Tour of Sweet Briar College, reception, dinner
