RICHMOND – Governor Terry McAuliffe has appointed Peter A. Blake, director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, to the Education Commission of the States.
The commission is an interstate consortium approved by Congress that studies and reports on the continuum of education from pre-kindergarten to college. The commission researches issues important to Virginia such as access to education, ensuring quality, and maintaining responsible public investment.
“I appreciate the opportunity to serve Virginia in this capacity and thank Governor McAuliffe for his support,” Blake said.
Each state or territory holds seven seats on the commission including that state’s governor. More information can be found at the commission’s website: www.ecs.org.
