Advisory: Council to meet September 18-19 at Norfolk State University

RICHMOND
— The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia will hold its regularly scheduled meeting September 18-19 at Norfolk State University, including a joint meeting with the leaders of Virginia’s public colleges and universities and a conversation on federal higher-education issues with U.S. Rep. Bobby Scott. 
 
The Council’s Executive, Academic Affairs, and Resources and Planning committees will meet September 18 beginning at noon at the G.W.C. Brown Memorial Hall Replacement Building. Topics include enrollment projections, the 2018-20 systemwide operating budget, and two proposed programs: an associate of fine arts at John Tyler Community College and an associate of science in criminology and criminal justice at Northern Virginia Community College. 
 
At 3:30 p.m., Council will hold a joint meeting with the Council of Presidents featuring a discussion of the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act with Congressman Scott.
 
The Council will convene for its regular meeting at 9 a.m. September 19, at the same location. Eddie Moore, president of Norfolk State University, will present remarks. Scheduled meeting topics include a staff recommendation to revoke the certification to operate in Virginia of American College of Commerce and Technology.
