RICHMOND —
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) has added two employees to support The Virginia Plan for Higher Education, SCHEV’s statewide strategic plan.

Dr. Jodi Fisler has been appointed associate for assessment policy and analysis at SCHEV. Her hiring supports The Virginia Plan initiative to collaborate with institutions to measure the quality of undergraduate education. Dr. Fisler also will lead the agency’s effort to update the commonwealth’s assessment policy. Dr. Fisler comes to SCHEV from the College of William & Mary, where she was the director of student affairs planning and assessment and assistant to the vice president for student affairs since 2012. Dr. Fisler received her B.A. in German studies from Williams College, and M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees in educational policy, planning and leadership from William & Mary.

Greg Weatherford joined SCHEV in late January as associate for communications and outreach. A longtime editor and journalist, he most recently worked as director of the Student Media Center at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served on the leadership council of the Division of Student Affairs and on Faculty Senate. His hiring supports The Virginia Plan’s initiative to launch a communications strategy to address public knowledge and benefits of higher education, including convening a broad stakeholder group to assess the current perception of the value of higher education. Mr. Weatherford received his B.S. in mass communications and his M.F.A. in creative writing from VCU.

“We are pleased that Jodi and Greg are joining SCHEV,” said Peter A. Blake, director of SCHEV. “Their experience and talents are important steps toward making Virginia the best-educated state in the nation by 2030.”

SCHEV is the coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. Together with stakeholders from across the Commonwealth, SCHEV is working to advance postsecondary learning, research and public service with The Virginia Plan for Higher Education.
