by Elizabeth Liverman | Dec 14, 2015
For Immediate Release: July 10, 2015

RICHMOND — Peter Blake, Director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, has been chosen to chair the executive committee of the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) for 2015-16.  Blake was elected by the chief executives of statewide governing and coordinating boards during their annual meeting held this week in Santa Fe.

“It is a testament to Peter Blake’s skill and talent that he has been chosen to lead a national organization such as SHEEO,” said SCHEV Chair Gil Minor.

SHEEO serves its members as an advocate for state policy leadership, as a liaison between states and the federal government, as a vehicle for learning from and collaborating with peers, and as a source of information and analysis on educational and public policy issues. SHEEO seeks to advance public policies and educational practices to achieve more widespread access and successful participation in higher education, more new discoveries through research, and more applications of knowledge that improve the quality of human lives. http://www.sheeo.org/

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on higher education issues.
