Katharine Webb
Katharine M. Webb is senior vice president of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA), a trade association of hospitals and health systems in Virginia, where she has been developing and advocating for health care policy issues for over 27 years. Her main commitment is to improving the quality of health and health care for all Virginians. Among the issues she has championed are expansion of Virginia’s Medicaid and FAMIS (child health insurance) programs, higher education, responsible deregulation of health care and a stable liability climate.
Katie also serves as executive vice president of the Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation (VHREF), the educational arm of VHHA, whose mission is to further the education of health professionals and to design and present educational programs to health care providers so that they may remain current on the major issues confronting the field and to improve their skills to address better their responsibilities.
In her career, Katie has served on multiple state and local boards that encompass health care and politics. Most recently, Katie has served as a member of the board and chair, Senior Connections, The Capital Area Agency on Aging; a member of the board and chair, Virginia Public Access Project; member of the Property Committee and Every Member Canvas Committee, St. Paul’s Church; a member of the board and treasurer, RX Partnership; a member of the VCU Foundation Board; and chair of the VCU School of Social Work Advisory Board.
Prior to joining VHHA, Katie worked at the Virginia Department of Health as a policy analyst. She was director of social work at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond and was on the faculty at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics in Charlottesville.
She holds an A.B. in American Studies from Sweet Briar College and a Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
