Cancellation or Deferment of Federal Loans

Former students may have all or part of their student loans (including interest) canceled or deferred for a variety of reasons. To determine whether your loan qualifies, contact the agency that is currently servicing your loan. The college financial aid office where the loan was originated can also provide assistance. The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia does not supply cancellation/ forgiveness/deferment forms or approve them once completed.
