Getting Ready for College Choosing Classes SOLS PSATS High School Graduation Requirenments Extracurricular Activities Student Publications Ready For College home

Theres no doubt that you probably have interests and/or talents that are not related to school. What are your hobbies? Do you like to play sports, dance, paint, play an instrument? Make sure that you stay involved with your interests. It is important to be a well rounded person who not only does well in school, but also has outside interests that reflect your ability to work with others, leadership ability, and a willingness to get involved.

There are different types of extracurricular activities you can get involved in such as:

  • School Organizations;
  • Athletic Activities;
  • Community and Volunteer Activities; and
  • Special Interests and Talents
Check with your Guidance office to get a list of all of the activities available at your school. You may be able to even start your own club if it doesnt exist at your school. Make sure that whatever you choose to get involved in you enjoy and that you dont overload yourself. It is important to have a good balance between academic and extracurricular activities.
