Higher Education Institutes

The New College Institute (NCI) works in concert with the efforts of nearby or regional institutions of higher learning to serve the diverse higher education needs of the region and the Commonwealth. NCI offers the third and fourth years of baccalaureate degree programs through partnerships with Virginia colleges and universities, as well as selected master’s degrees that meet regional needs.

At the Roanoke Higher Education Center (RHEC), individuals are able to pursue undergraduate degrees in a variety of disciplines and fields related to regional job opportunities. RHEC offers nearly 200 programs of study through the Center’s partner organizations.

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (HEC) offers students a high quality education through partnerships with eight Virginia colleges and universities. Students can earn Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in any one of 20 disciplines and 12 degree programs.

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) was established in 1991 to strengthen the economy of southwest Virginia through education and training of the current and future workforce. Through a unique partnership with eight colleges and universities, the SVHEC provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs and professional development courses primarily for adult learners.
