Elizabeth Wallace Named SCHEV’s
Government Relations/Communications Director

RICHMOND — Daniel LaVista, Executive Director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), today announced that Elizabeth Wallace will join SCHEV staff as Government Relations/Communications Director.

“We are very excited that Ms. Wallace will be joining the staff at the State Council. The Council has an important external agenda and we believe that she has the required skills to lead us in addressing it capably and well.”

Ms. Wallace will be responsible for managing the Government Relations and Communications staff activities. Her duties include: planning, developing, and implementing the agency’s external communications programs, which encompass state and federal government relations with executive and legislative branch officials on policy, regulatory, and administrative matters; media relations; website management; public and constituent affairs; and print and electronic publications. Ms. Wallace will also serve as the liaison to the Council’s Outreach Committee. Reporting to the Executive Director, Ms. Wallace will start in her new position at SCHEV on December 6, 2004.

Ms. Wallace currently serves as Director of Government Affairs at Old Dominion University, where she previously served as Special Events Coordinator. Prior to her professional service at Old Dominion, she held the position of Development Office Manager at Norfolk Collegiate Schools.

Ms. Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Old Dominion University. She is also a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues.
