SCHEV to Hear from Higher Ed Consortium at January 11 Meeting
RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold its regular business meeting on Tuesday, January 11 from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm in SCHEV’s main conference room on the ninth floor of the James Monroe Building at 101 North 14th Street in Richmond, Virginia. Following presentations by representatives of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center/New College Institute/Institute for Advanced Learning and Research Consortium, the Council will hear an update on the introduced budget and pre-filed legislation.
Council members will take action on a proposal from Thomas Nelson Community College to offer a new Associate of Science (A.S.) in Information Technology program. They will also consider an updated policy entitled “State-Level Requirements for Approval of Various Academic Program Actions at Public Institutions” to clarify the policy, guidelines, and procedures and ensure that SCHEV’s records for all program actions are accurate and complete. Additionally, the Council will act on the annual report from its Private and Out-of-State Postsecondary Education (POPE) section.
SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues. Agenda materials for the SCHEV meeting are available at http://www.schev.edu.
