SCHEV Announces Agenda for October 16 Meeting
RICHMOND — The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in SCHEV’s main conference room on the ninth floor of the James Monroe Building at 101 North 14th Street in Richmond, Virginia.
Council members will take action on a number of items, including the report of the Assessment Task Force, the proposed regulations for the Two-Year College Transfer Grant program, and requests from private and out-of-state schools seeking certification to operate in Virginia. The 2008-10 higher education system operating budget recommendations will also be discussed, with the Council taking action on such items as base adequacy, research, the Higher Education Equipment Trust Fund (HEETF), and student financial aid.
Please note that the Council changed its meeting structure at its September 10 meeting, doing away with the use of committees other than the Executive Committee.
SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues. Agenda materials for the SCHEV meeting are available at www.schev.edu.
