SCHEV Announces Agenda for May 10 Meeting
—Meeting To Be Held at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland—

RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday, May 10 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Topping Room on the 2nd Floor of the Old Chapel at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia.

SCHEV committees will meet prior to the regular business session. The Academic Affairs Committee and the Resources Committee will hold a joint meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Topping Room on the 2nd Floor of the Old Chapel to hear an update on the Higher Education Restructuring Act. The Academic Affairs Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Topping Room on the 2nd Floor of the Old Chapel. The Resources Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. in Room 112 on the 1st Floor of the Old Chapel. The Outreach Committee will meet in Room 112 on the 1st Floor of the Old Chapel at 10:45 a.m.

The Academic Affairs Committee will take action on a proposed program at one of the public institutions. The Academic Affairs Committee will also take action on draft regulations governing the certification of certain institutions to confer degrees and certificates and give an update on the implications of the Higher Education Restructuring Act on the Academic Affairs Committee.

The Resources Committee will take action on the 2005-2006 operating plan of the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program (CGEP) and will also give an update on the implications of the Higher Education Restructuring Act on the Committee.

Additional agenda items include:

  • Recognition of Departing Council Members – The Council will recognize the work of two departing members: Carl N. Kelly and Delceno C. Miles.
  • Eminent Scholars Allocation Summary for 2005-2006 - The Council will receive a summary of funds allocated to the public institutions for 2005-2006 for the Eminent Scholars program.

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues.
