SCHEV Announces Agenda for March 14 Meeting
—Meeting To Be Held at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus —

RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the President’s Dining Room of the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center of Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus in Annandale, Virginia.

SCHEV committees will meet prior to the regular business meeting. The Academic Affairs Committee and the Resources Committee will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in the President’s Dining Room of the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center. The Resources Committee will meet in the Seminar Room of the Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center. The Outreach Committee will meet in the Seminar Room from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Academic Affairs Committee will take action on a total of five proposals for new degree programs. The Committee will also take action on its previous suspension of Washington University School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, as well as on conducting a public hearing related to the proposed promulgation of permanent regulations governing the certification of certain institutions to confer degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Further, the Academic Affairs Committee will receive an update on its priorities in persistence, technology and program approvals.

The Resources Committee will receive an update on the budget actions of the 2006 General Assembly.

During the regular business meeting, the Council will take action on the recommendations of the Domicile Guidelines Review Committee. The Council will also hear a presentation by Larry Dotolo, President of the Virginia Tidewater Higher Education Consortium, and receive an update on legislation passed during the 2006 General Assembly.

SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues.
