SCHEV Announces Agenda for March 8 Meeting
—Meeting To Be Held at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville—
RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday, March 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Dickinson Building at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, Virginia.
SCHEV committees will meet prior to the regular business session. The Academic Affairs Committee and the Resources Committee will meet from 8:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in the Main Stage Auditorium on the 2nd Floor of the Dickinson Building. The Resources Committee will meet in the Drama Classroom on the 2nd Floor of the Dickinson Building. The Outreach Committee will meet in the Drama Classroom on the 2nd Floor of the Dickinson Building from 10:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.The Academic Affairs Committee will take action on several proposed programs at public institutions. The Academic Affairs Committee will also give an update on HB 989 (2004), the development of a State Transfer Module between the public two-year and four-year institutions.Additional agenda items include:
- Summary of General Assembly Budget Actions for Colleges and Universities – The Council will be briefed on the Conference Committee Report on HB 1500 (Budget Bill)
Summary of Budget Actions and Legislation Relevant to the 2005 General Assembly Session: The Council will be briefed on the legislative results of the 2005 General Assembly relevant to higher education.SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues.
