SCHEV Releases 2005 Tuition and Fee Report
—Tuition and fee increases to fall for 2nd year in a row —

RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday, May 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Byrd Board Room of Mary M. Henkel Hall at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.
SCHEV committees will meet prior to the regular business meeting. The Academic Affairs Committee and the Resources Committee will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in the Byrd Board Room of Mary M. Henkel Hall. The Resources Committee will meet in Room 109 of Mary M. Henkel Hall.
The Academic Affairs Committee will take action on a total of six proposals for new degree programs from five public four-year institutions. The Academic Affairs Committee will also take action on permanent regulations for Private and Out-of-State Postsecondary institutions. Further, the Committee will receive an update on its priorities in persistence, technology, and program approvals.
The Resources Committee will take action on the Commonwealth Graduate Engineering Program’s 2006-07 operating plan. The Resources Committee will also take action on the Institute of Psychological Science’s request to participate in the Tuition Assistance Grant Program. The Committee will also receive an update on General Assembly budget actions.
During the regular business meeting, the Council will take action on emergency regulation changes to the Domicile Guidelines. The Council will also recognize its departing members.
SCHEV is the Commonwealth’s coordinating body for Virginia’s system of higher education. The agency provides policy guidance and budget recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly, and is a resource for information on Virginia colleges and universities on higher education issues.
