SCHEV to Hold Public Hearing to
Discuss Regulations Governing Certification of
Private and Out-of-State Postsecondary Educational Institutions

RICHMOND —The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is currently developing regulations governing the certification of private and out of state postsecondary schools in Virginia. The proposed regulations, 8 VAC 40-31, Regulation Governing Certification of Certain Institutions to Confer Degrees and Certificates, will replace the current Emergency Regulation of the same number and name.

A public hearing to address the regulations will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, in the SCHEV Main Conference Room, located on the Ninth Floor of the James Monroe Building in Richmond, Virginia. We ask that anyone wishing to speak to please bring written comments and/or supporting material so that it can be included in the record of the meeting.

A copy of the draft proposed regulations is available by contacting Frederick 'Rick' Patterson, Assistant Director for Private and Out-of-State Postsecondary Education at (804) 225-2609 or
