Statement from SCHEV Director Peter Blake
Regarding the Retirement of Virginia Tech President Dr. Charles W. Steger
RICHMOND — “Charles Steger been an outstanding leader for Virginia Tech. He also has been willing to set aside his institutional hat to serve the greater needs of the Commonwealth. His work on behalf of science and technology education and research has moved Virginia forward in these critical areas. He led statewide efforts around college and university efficiency and innovation. And he never backed down from a serious discussion about governance or financial support for higher education. We are grateful for his service and will miss his courage, dignity, and integrity.”
