SCHEV Interim Director Announcement

During their July business meeting, members of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) named Andrew B. Fogarty as the agency’s Interim Director effective August 9, 2010.

Both a former Secretary of Transportation and Secretary of Administration for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Dr. Fogarty also served as Chief of Staff under former Virginia Governor Baliles from 1986-89. Dr. Fogarty most recently served as Special Assistant to the Chairman of CSX Corporation, one of the world's leading transportation companies providing rail, intermodal and rail-to-truck transload services. Prior to that, he held numerous positions at CSX, including President of CSX World Terminals and Senior/Executive Vice President of Corporate Services.

Dr. Fogarty is a fellow at the National Academy of Public Administration and a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Compensation Committee at Danaos Corporation. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member in public financial management at George Mason University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the College of William and Mary. Dr. Fogarty earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University, a Master's of Public Administration from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at the State University of New York, and a Ph.D. in public administration from Florida State University.
